Smooth Jazz At South Shore Inc.
This event was created to expose the residents of Michigan City, Laporte County and the surrounding areas to culturally diverse and Internationally acclaimed artists.  It has become a national attraction, allowing the corporation to fund special projects like the charities below.

Honorary Chairman - Rick O'Dell

We are very pleased to introduce our first Honorary Event Chairman, Rick O’Dell.  Rick is one of the most beloved radio personalities in the industry, today.  His musical knowledge is immense, and he loves sharing that knowledge with his listening audience.  Rick has gained the respect of everyone in the smooth jazz genre, largely due to his sincerity, honesty and dynamic personality.

Chicago has always been the home of Rick, and was recently named to the Lyons Township High School Hall of Fame.  He currently lives on the northwest side of Chicago, with his wife, Lori, and their English Bulldog, Mike.

Rick’s professional radio career began in Chicago, after receiving a degree in Speech Communication from the University of Illinois. He joined WNUA in late 1989, and has been the midday host, as well as the host of the Smooth Jazz Sunday Brunch ever since.

Rick is a Cubs fan to a ridiculous degree, as you will find on his blog on the WNUA website.  Rick states that one of his goals is to “perfect the ultimate rhythmic roll at the craps table.”  To learn more about our main man, Rick, and his dog, Mike, logon to www.WNUA.com and type in the key word Rick.

Special Contributor - Allen Kepler

"Everyone in the Smooth Jazz industry owes a debt of gratitude to the genius of Allen Kepler, President of Broadcast Architecture. for keeping the smooth jazz format alive and well.  New artists continue to emerge, keeping the face of smooth jazz forever fresh and exciting.  An all around great guy, Allen can be heard around the world, each week,  broadcasting his Smooth Jazz Top 20 Countdown."

Celebrity /Children’s Forum

The Celebrity / Children’s Forum was created as a pre-concert event, where selected children from LaPorte County interact with the performing artists.  The children learn life lessons, on “what it takes” to be successful in the music industry as well as successful in life.  Those children attending are from LaPorte County music and band classes, Michigan City Boys and Girls Club, and the Michigan City Rotary Club  “STRIVE” mentoring students.  The forum is recognized by the Indiana Arts Commission, South Shore Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.  It is sponsored, in part, by the Michigan City Rotary Club and Brown, Inc.
